Indian Railways recruits through Railway Recruitment Boards (RRB) and Railway Recruitment Cells (RRC). Railway selection normally runs one or more computer-based tests followed, depending on the post, by a physical efficiency test, document verification and a medical examination with post-specific vision standards.

Applications open on 28 June 2025 and close on 07 August 2025, giving candidates 41 days to complete the process. The 41-day window is comfortable, though last-day traffic still causes portal failures every cycle — applying in the first half avoids it. Fee payment closes on 09/08/2025 — note that this can fall on a different day from the form deadline, and an unpaid form is not a submitted form. The exam is currently shown for 06,09-10,13 March 2026; treat this as provisional until the admit card confirms it.

The age limit runs from 18 to 30 years for unreserved candidates. That is a 12-year band, so candidates near either edge should confirm the exact cut-off date the notification measures age against — it is usually a fixed reference date, not the date you apply. On qualifications, the notification states: Bachelor Degree of Science in Physics / Electronics / Computer Science / Information Technology / Instrumentation OR B.SC in a Combination  of Any Sub Stream of Physics / Electronics / Computer Science / IT / Instrumentation OR BE / B.Tech  / 3 Year Engineering Polytechnic Dip.... If your degree is an equivalent under a different name, look for the equivalence clause in the official PDF before paying the fee — a form rejected for a qualification mismatch is not usually refundable.

Fee-paying categories are charged between ₹250 and ₹500, depending on category. Payment is accepted via debit card, credit card, net banking, and offline bank challan. Pay only through the official portal linked on this page; the fee is normally non-refundable once the form is submitted.

Document verification is where otherwise-successful candidates most often fall out, usually over a missing category certificate or a name mismatch across documents. Assemble originals plus self-attested photocopies well before the date, and get any discrepancy in spelling or date of birth corrected in advance — it cannot be resolved on the day.
