The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) recruits for Group B and Group C posts across central government departments. SSC selections are computer-based, normally multi-tier, and use normalised scores across shifts — the raw mark you calculate from the answer key is not the mark used for the cut-off.

Applications open on 24 June 2024 and close on 27 July 2024, giving candidates 34 days to complete the process. The 34-day window is comfortable, though last-day traffic still causes portal failures every cycle — applying in the first half avoids it. Fee payment closes on   28/07/2024 — note that this can fall on a different day from the form deadline, and an unpaid form is not a submitted form. A correction window is listed (10-11 August 2024), so errors in the submitted form can be fixed within that period rather than by re-applying. The exam is currently shown for   09-26 September 2024; treat this as provisional until the admit card confirms it.

The age limit runs from 18 to 27 years for unreserved candidates. That is a 9-year band, so candidates near either edge should confirm the exact cut-off date the notification measures age against — it is usually a fixed reference date, not the date you apply. On qualifications, the notification states: Bachelor Degree in Any Stream / Subject with 60 marks in Mathematics at 10+2 Inter Level OR Bachelor Degree in Any Subject with Statistics as One the Subject in Degree level. If your degree is an equivalent under a different name, look for the equivalence clause in the official PDF before paying the fee — a form rejected for a qualification mismatch is not usually refundable.

SC / ST / PH and All Category Female are exempt from the application fee under this notification. Fee-paying categories are charged between ₹100 and ₹500, depending on category. Payment is accepted via debit card, credit card, net banking, and UPI. Pay only through the official portal linked on this page; the fee is normally non-refundable once the form is submitted.

SSC CGL is decided across tiers, with Tier 1 acting purely as a filter and the sectional performance in Tier 2 setting the merit. Because scores are normalised across shifts, consistency across all sections is worth more than a very high mark in one.
